Perinatal / Postpartum Psychotherapy & Counseling

Felicity Colangelo, LCSW

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has gained over a decade of experience in the field of mental health and almost four decades of life experience, which I have found to be equally important for this work. My practice is driven by the knowledge that people are suffering from the unique challenges they experience related to pregnancy and parenting and that, with the right support, their suffering can be greatly relieved/lifted.

My passion for this work stems from my own experience with perinatal anxiety and depression. Despite being a mental health professional, I still found myself struggling for many months through pregnancy and postpartum before realizing I needed to reach out and get help. I have since come to realize the prenatal and postpartum periods are uniquely difficult and thus demand a unique support system. I have dedicated my career to supporting people/families through this time of transition, offering my personal experience, knowledge and infinite passion in hopes others can find more joy and comfort early in their parenting journey.

I am trained in and utilize treatment techniques known to effectively treat perinatal anxiety, depression and trauma including CBT, interpersonal, mindfulness, somatic, narrative, solution-focused, person-centered and attachment-based therapies. After getting to know each individual, I draw what is needed from these modalities to provide a treatment approach customized for their unique needs.

On a personal note aside from this work, I am a transplant from the Northwest and continue to enjoy exploring and discovering all New England has to offer. I love hiking, snowshoeing and generally enjoying the beauty in nature. I believe humans desire and need deep interpersonal connection and validation to thrive. I am a wife and a mom to two very intense little people, who have transformed me in many ways. I look forward to meeting you and learning your story!
