Perinatal Psychotherapy & Counseling

Felicity Colangelo, LCSW, PMH-C

About Me

Hello!

My practice is driven by the knowledge that people are suffering from the unique challenges they experience related to family planning, pregnancy, parenting and loss and that, with the right support, their suffering can be greatly relieved.

My passion for this work stems from my own experience with perinatal anxiety and depression. Despite being a mental health professional, I still found myself struggling for many months through pregnancy and postpartum before realizing I needed to reach out and get help. I have since come to realize the prenatal and postpartum periods are uniquely difficult and thus demand a unique support system. I have dedicated my career to supporting folks through this time of transition, offering my personal experience, knowledge and infinite passion in hopes others can find more joy and comfort early in their parenting journey.

I am trained in and utilize treatment techniques known to effectively treat anxiety, depression and trauma including Brainspotting (BSP), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment-Based, mindfulness, and somatic therapies. After getting to know each individual, I draw what is needed from these modalities to provide a treatment approach customized for their unique needs.

On a personal note aside from this work, I am a transplant from the Northwest and continue to enjoy exploring and discovering all New England has to offer. I love hiking, snowshoeing and generally enjoying the beauty in nature. I believe humans desire and need deep interpersonal connection and validation to thrive. I am a wife and a mom to two very intense little people, who have transformed me in many ways. I look forward to meeting you and learning your story!
